Modern, Urban Feel at Liberty State Park

Summer means many things to us. But one of the reasons we love summer is we get to photograph at special locations. Liberty State Park is one of those places! It provides a special urban feel while you are sitting on grass! That’s one of the reasons why we love photographing there.

We’re not the only ones who love Liberty State Park. We often hear from our families that they wait all year for us to photograph an outdoor family photography session at this location. Many families have a story as to why they love Liberty State Park; some lived in NYC or Jersey City before migrating to Montclair or another suburb and feel it represents a combination of their past life and present local life. Others worked or still work in the city and love having the skyline as part of their family’s story. We’ve heard from others that they met in the city or had their first date there…so how could the skyline not be in their photos?!

Either way, Liberty State Park is special. Whether you have a connection to the city or simply like the look and location, this spot is not to be missed when booking a session. Many families will have a fun family day in the area, too. Some go out for lunch, some visit Liberty Science Center, and some simply go for a stroll. We typically photograph these sessions in the early morning or before sunset, so as to capture the stunning lighting by the water. We also photograph by the old train station, which families absolutely love.
